If you are looking for a secluded desert island, with lush green vegetation, pristine beaches and a aqua marine ocean then you don’t have to look to far off the Thai coast. Ko Lanta Yai which is located near the Andaman Islands on the Andaman Sea fit the description of thousands of romantic movie settings and would even make Daniel Defoe re-script “Robinson Crusoe.” Despite being close to the Phi Phi Islands off the west of Thailand the islands are for administrative purposes classified under Krabi Province. It is just a classification though, for once you arrive here all ties with the outside world are severed and all that remains is you and the deep blue ocean.

Despite its miniscule proportions (its only 30 km long and 6 km across), the Lanta Yai Island offers a diverse range of recreational activities to indulge in. It is popular for scuba diving as the rock and coral formations around the island serve as a home for many species of marine life. Experiencing a ride on a traditional Thai Long tail boat is also something no tourists should miss; nothing can beat rowing out to the vast expansive ocean and being so close to nature.

Lanta Yai is mostly frequented by tourists who want to get away from the crowded party oriented beaches of Phuket and are instead searching for a more relaxed, laid back holiday. Due to its popularity among a niche market the island’s are extremely peaceful and non-commercialized; no red light districts or night clubs here!

As described earlier Lanta Yai is not the place to head to if you are looking rollicking nightlife or crowded night clubs. None the less a couple of more laid back night time pursuits can be enjoyed here, the island boasts of a wide variety of restaurants. They can range from banana pancake joints to fully fledged gourmet restaurants; many of them offer breathtaking locations right on the beach itself. A couple of laid back bars and pubs can also be found around the Lanta Yai Harbour and also in most hotels.

Enjoy the comforts of this exquisite paradise while staying at a krabi luxury villa such as Langham Place Koh Lanta which is highly regarded for its unmatched quality and service excellence.

If you are looking for a nice holiday destination this year, we would recommend Koh Samui, which is situated in the South of Thailand. Although, it is the country third-largest island, after Phuket and Koh Chang, Koh Samui is now the second most popular island destination in Thailand. There is no international flight to Koh Samui, we have to fly to Surat Thani on the mainland and travelling by ferry boat to Koh Samui.

There are several reasons why we should visit Koh Samui.

First of all, Koh Samui is a charming island with great beaches; i.e. the snow-white sand beaches shaded by towering palms which are very beautiful. Koh Samui is also called “The Island of Coconut Trees” as it is covered by millions of coconut trees.

Besides, the water is incredibly clear, so calm and good for swimming almost the whole year at Mae Nam which is the popular beach of the island. Chaweng Bay and Lamai Beach are also ones of the most attractive scenery on the island. Most visitors who are beach lovers love lying on the beach and soaking up the sun. Some people may love diving, snorkeling or windsurfing.

Koh Samui is rather small that you can walk to everywhere. Or you can drive on the road which circles the island, exploring excellence beaches on the north, east and west coasts. It runs through seas of coconut palms and passing Koh Samui’s most impressive water fall. It will take only a few hours to drive around Koh Samui.

In the meantime, if you would like to meet people, you can enjoy nightlife and a party atmosphere at different places in Koh Samui. There are plenty of entertainment options.

There are several attractive islands nearby Koh Samui, such as,

- Ang Thong Marines National Park, in the west of Koh Samui, which includes some 40 islands, offers the finest and colorful coral reefs and marine life. Koh Mae is one of those islands, it has a remarkable clear salt-water lake and it is definitely worth a visit.

- Koh Phanagan also offers deserted white sand beaches.

- Koh Tao or Turtle Island, where Hat Sai Si Beach is protected by a wonderful reef of off-shore coral. It is good for swimming even the monsoon season.

By the way, vacationing in Koh Samui is best from March through October.

If you are looking for a different kind of summer holiday this year, we would recommend Koh Samui, where you can spend your holiday on the coast with smooth sea and warm sunshine. You will certainly enjoy and love the natural beauties at this hilly island.

When you are vacationing on Koh Samui, you’ll be enjoying the beaches, the waterfalls and the active nightlife, you’ll still need a place to stay, and some of the best places to stay on Thailand’s third largest island are the rented villas! The villas of Koh Samui are inexpensive and they can provide you with a degree of privacy that’s hard to get in some of the larger resorts. When you stay on one of Koh Samui’s beautiful villas, you get a real idea of what it’s like to live on this island paradise.

When you are planning out your vacation accommodations, you might automatically dismiss the villas as being to expensive. Depending on your situation though, they could be exactly the right choice for you! For instance, if you are planning to stay for longer than two weeks, or even a week and half, the rates of the villa suddenly become a lot more manageable. In the long term, they are cheaper than staying at the resorts, and much more comfortable as well. While you might feel uneasy after an extended stay in a hotel, a villa will provide you with a kitchen, where you can do some cooking if you’re tired of eating out and space to just kick back and relax.

While this might take you slightly off the beaten path, you’ll find that you can enjoy the wonderful tranquility that Thailand’s islands are so well known for. Frequently, because the villas are part of a loose system, you’ll still be able to get get to town for the nightlife and parties via a bus or a car, and when you go home, you won’t have to deal with that vibrant nightlife right outside your window!

Just because you choose to skip the overcrowded resorts doesn’t mean that you have to spend your vacation tidying! Many villas have the option of maid service for a small extra fee and you can find your home away from home spotless every time you walk into it. Because most villas are part of a larger system, you’ll find that you have access to things like guides and delivery service, so rest assured that even in a villa you will be well taken care of.

Thailand Islands – The Five Reasons That Make Koh Phangan The Perfect Choice

November 7, 2009 by admin

The islands of southern Thailand are widely known as “Island Paradise”. Their picturesque beaches, moderate tropical climate and unique, relaxing lifestyle are account for their reputation. Travelers from all over the world come to these southern Thailand islands to experience the famous ‘transition to another dimension’, as they gradually absorb the overwhelming serenity and ephemeral separation from the dynamic and straining modern life style.

In the eyes of the inexperienced traveler, stranded at the very first stages of planning his or her trip to Thailand, all “paradise islands” may look exactly the same: all the islands are tropical (in the classic sense and climate wise), picturesque and serene. But in fact, a more thorough perspective would gradually reveal the fact that each island, just like every individual traveler, has its own set of unique qualities. The cost of stay in some islands can turn out to be a surprisingly expensive experience, whereas visiting other islands can become quite a bargain; some islands are dramatically peaceful while others are loaded with exciting nightlife activities; some islands provide the perfect conditions for divers while others are ideal for backpackers.

After years of intensive research, and after exploring every dark corner on every island in southern Thailand, I can safely say that Koh Phangan is no doubt and by far the perfect choice for the perfect vacation. Koh Phangan is the perfect choice because unlike its counterparts, Koh Phangan has an unexplainable unique ability to adopt itself to the likes and needs of every individual traveler in the limits of being an island (except from providing the ultimate urban environment. But nobody visits the Thai islands to relive his urban daily lifestyle).

Here are the five elements that make Koh Phangan the ultimate vacation choice:

1. Best value for your money. Until recently, Koh Phangan had a strong reputation of a backpackers’ island. Consequently, the island’s costs of living had been adjusted to its target audience. Food and accommodation on the island are surprisingly cheap, so that even the average backpacker with a budget of 30$ per day can provide himself or herself with a reasonable, almost western life standard on the island, which includes air conditioned rooms and delicious cuisine. During the last several years, as more spoiled tourists discovered this island, local entrepreneurs began to invest in luxury accommodation. Nevertheless, the best quality accommodation in Koh Phangan is still cheaper, on average, compared to the same standard accommodation offered on it counterparts.

2. A rare opportunity to experience the “old school” island paradise. Even the sworn lovers of Thailand will agree, that the days when the “paradise islands” were the place in which one can sit on a deserted beach and share his or her thoughts with a single coconut tree, are a thing of the past. Still, in Koh Phangan one can find some “reservations” of remote picturesque beaches with a limited choice of accommodation, such as Haad Thong Reng, Haad Yao and Haad Sadet. Some of these forgotten venues feature about three dozens bungalows hidden in the midst of the jungle. These “old school” beaches make you feel like merging with a “real” paradise, created by true nature and not by wise and experienced tourist industry entrepreneurs.

3. Overwhelming diving sites. The Gulf of Thailand is considered to be an excellent diving area, due to its clear lucid water and the huge variety of underwater life. Until recently, the consensual opinion was that the only place for “real” scuba divers in the Gulf of Thailand is Koh Tao Island, next to Koh Phangan. Nowadays, more divers are choosing Koh Phangan as the launching ground for their preferable diving sites: a small island Koh Ma, connected to Koh Phangan by a sand bar; the neighboring beaches Haad Salad, Haad Yao & Haad Chaophao, offering a huge variety of tropical fish and coral reefs; and Ang Thong National Marine Park – a group of 42 islands, protected as a National Park.

4. The Full Moon Party. The full moon party, held in Koh Phangan since 1989, attracts thousands of travelers every month coming from all corners of the globe. Even if you are not the classic partygoer – the full moon party could be a unique and unforgettable opportunity to join thousands of joyful, exhilarated people dancing together in the most beautiful place in the world to the sounds of the best music.

5. To experience radically unique travel activities. Koh Phangan is quite a small sized island (about 170 km2), but it offers a myriad of activities. You can come on a Sunday, as a backpacker to Sunrise Beach, become a professional diver on Monday in Koh Ma and turn into a seasoned partygoer on Tuesday as you take part in the exhilarating full moon party. If you’re able to wake up on Wednesday morning, you can meet local people in the fishermen’s village Chaloklum to learn and experience their traditional way of life. Additionally, you can join forces with your sportsperson alter ego and go trekking on Thursday; and on Friday you’ll have the unique opportunity to pretend being a Mowgli riding an elephant’s back in Phangan Safari. On Saturday, you can try living as a sheikh in a luxury resort with a spa…and maybe get the chance to write a novel on the seven most unforgettable days of your life.

Thinking of places to enjoy a golfing vacation adventure and go somewhere exotic

Consider Thailand as a Golf Vacation destination and you will never forget your experience and the adventure.

In this article I will be talking to you about Bangkok Golf Vacations in particular, although there are hundreds of golf courses throughout Thailand.

First a little about Thailand from Wikipedia. Thailand is home to several distinct geographic regions, partly corresponding to the provincial groups.

The north of the country is mountainous, with the highest point being Doi Inthanon at 2,576 meters (8,451ft.).

The northeast consists of the Khorat Plateau, bordered to the east by the Mekong river. The centre of the country is dominated by the predominantly flat Chao Phraya River valley, which runs into the Gulf of Thailand.

The south consists of the narrow Kra Isthmus that widens into the Malay Peninsula.

The local climate is tropical and characterized by monsoons. There is a rainy, warm, and cloudy southwest monsoon from mid-May to September, as well as a dry, cool northeast monsoon from November to mid-March.

The southern isthmus is always hot and humid. Major cities beside the capital Bangkok include Nakhon Ratchasima, Udon Thani, Nakhon Sawan, Chiang Mai, Surat Thani, Phuket, and Hat Yai, in Songhla Province.

Bangkok, known in Thai as Krung Thep, is the capital and largest city of Thailand, with an official census population of over 10 million. Bangkok is located on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River, near the Gulf of Thailand.

Its also in the World Book of Records for the longest named city, Krung Thep is abbreviated.

Bangkok is one of the fastest growing, most economically dynamic cities in Southeast Asia. It is emerging as a regional center to rival Singapore and Hong Kong.

The World Meteorological Organization has dubbed Bangkok the world’s hottest large city. Moreover, it is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations. Bangkok is also known for relatively low retail prices.

Bangkok is the place to visit for breathtakingly beautiful temples, magnificent palaces, Thai dancers, Thai kickboxing, museums, and island hopping, with
6 international airports , destinations all within one hour or so flights within Thailand. You will also find great bargains while shopping country wide.

Thailand’s new airport is a work of art which stands alone and sets a new international standard for travelers, with all the latest hi-tech equipment , and visitor friendly features no where else to be found, just now opening in July through September.

So, besides the enjoyment of your golfing vacation, you will also be able to enjoy the visit to Bangkok, Thailand in many other ways, not the least of, which is the fantastic Bangkok nightlife and world-class hotels at rates you won’t believe.

All in all, a golf vacation to Thailand is more than just an average golfing vacation, it’s an adventure to remember.

Lets talk about some of the particular Golf Clubs and Golf Courses in Bangkok.

Windmill Park Golf & Country Club: Designed by Nick Faldo, this 18-Hole, Par 72, golf course is very challenging from the back tees. It features a lot of water for most of the entire course and the Par 5 holes are all doglegs. The last hole is probably the biggest challenge where you have to hit onto an island where the clubhouse is also located.

Bangpoo Country Club: This 18 hole course was designed by Arnold Palmer and is one of the most popular golf vacation destinations. It is located about 60 miles southeast of Bangkok. You will not contend with as much water as you will on the Windmill course but wind will be a factor in your golf game at Bangpoo. Wide Fairways make the course a little easier for the average golfer.

Vintage Golf Clubs: There is a lot more here than just golf. It features a glamorous clubhouse with tennis courts, a swimming pool, and even a fitness center. This 18 hole, Par 72 golf course was designed by Arthur Hills and is a rather flat course. However the greens, fairways, and water hazards are well placed. The Par 5 holes will give any golfer the challenge they are looking for and the 18th hole is especially challenging with a narrow green sporting water on two sides.

Bangpakong Riverside Country Club: Built by the Bangpakong River, this 18 hole course presents unique challenges for golfers at any skill level. The river intertwines through the golf course and into some of the greens themselves.
It sports thick rough areas even though the fairways are wide. Golfers will also have to contend with strong winds in addition to the obvious water hazards.

Thana City Golf & Country Club: This Golf Club is located along the Bangna-Trad Highway. A beautiful course designed by Greg Norman gives golfers a chance to play holes of varying skill levels.
There are Par 4, 300 yard holes up to Par 4, 440 yard holes. Very fast greens make this golf course a real challenge.

Dynasty Golf & Country Club: Designed by Dennis Griffiths, Dynasty is an 18-hole golf course about an hour-and-a-half drive from Bangkok. The greens are well placed and the course is fairly flat.
There are creeks that provide good water hazards and the trees and flowers that surround this beautiful golf course are something to be admired.

Subhapruek Golf Club: (Formerly Bangna Country Club). The name, Subhapruek, was given to the golf course by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in 1995 and means Beautiful Plants.
This golf course is one of the most beautiful courses in Thailand. Every single one of the 18 holes was designed by Pete Dye as a signature hole. The course presents physical and mental challenges that rival the best golf courses in the world.

Natural Park Ramindra Golf Course: (Formerly Winsan Golf Club until taken over by the Natural Group in 1992) Designed by Jack Niclaus, this 18-hole golf course features holes with sandy wastes, water hazards, and bunkers.
Like any golf course designed by Jack Niclaus, it presents challenges golfers at all skill levels can enjoy. It is located near Safari World, about and hour drive from Bangkok.

These are only a few of the golf courses in and around Bangkok, Thailand. You will enjoy exploring to find other courses such as those I will recommend below. A trip to Thailand for a golf vacation is one you will never forget.

Other recommended Golf courses you can search for online before booking your Bangkok, Thailand golf vacation.

Green Valley Golf Club, Rose Garden Golf Club, Kiarti Thanee Country Club, Royal Gems Golf & Sports Club, Krisda City Golf Club, President Golf & Country Club, Krung Kavee Golf Club, Pinehurst Golf & Country Club, Lakewood Golf & Country Club, Panya Indra Golf Club, Lum Luk Ka Golf Club, and Navatanee Golf Club.

Note from the author:
Although there are many excellent choices, my personal favorite is Pinehurst Golf & Country Club, minutes from Don Mueng International Airport, great accommodations in a country setting , excellent service with a smile, and moderately priced to fit within your budget.

Just watch out for the water traps. I’ve donated 100’s of golf balls over the years.

The Kingdom of Thailand draws more visitors than any other country in southeast Asia with its irresistible combination of breathtaking natural beauty, inspiring temples, renowned hospitality, robust cuisine and ruins of fabulous ancient kingdoms. Few countries are so well endowed.

From the stupa-studded mountains of Mae Hong Son and the verdant limestone islands of the
Andaman Sea, to the pulse-pounding dance clubs of Bangkok and the tranquil villages moored along the Mekong River, Thailand offers something for every type of traveler.

The best overall time for visiting most of Thailand climate-wise is between November and February when it is not too wet and not too hot. The south is best visited when the rest of Thailand is miserably hot (March to May), and the north is best from mid-November to early December or when it starts warming up again in February. If you’re spending time in Bangkok, be prepared to roast in April and do some wading in October – probably most challenging two months, weather-wise, in the capital.

Phuket is one of the most popular destinations in Thailand. Phuket’s appeal lies in the beauty of the island, and the variety of relatively inexpensive activities on offer. Thailand’s largest island has wonderful food, vibrant nightlife, an excellent range of accommodation and great beaches, but there’s a lot more to do besides sunbathe! Diving, fishing, eco-adventure tours in the forests, touring the amazing area around Phang Nga Bay, trips to the outlying islands and elephant trekking are just a few of the alternative activities on offer.

Accommodation in Phuket is justifiably amongst the elite of the world. Luxury villas dot the landscape throughout the island, from beach front villas to ocean view villas there is a luxury Phuket property that will suit the needs of every visitor to this island.

If relaxation in a small seaside community is what you’re after, you’ll find Kamala a delight. Kamala is the most beautiful and sought after holiday spot on Phuket Island. Perfect sunsets, unspoiled tropical beaches and cascading mountains are some of the highlights that make the area unique. Located on Phuket’s west coast, just north of Patong, it’s less hectic that its neighbour.

Formerly a quiet, fishing village, Kamala is a beautiful spot in which to relax and enjoy the still peaceful village atmosphere of this scenic, unspoiled beach. The area behind the beach has developed over the last few years giving a greater choice of local places to eat and drink, as well as an incredible Array of beautiful property rental options which blend into the natural scenery maintaining the tranquility of the area.

More secluded resorts nestle higher up amongst the trees on the headland, capitalizing on the wonderful sea and mountain views, and only a few minutes walk to a sandy white beach on the northern end. Villa rentals in Kamala offer a fantastic choice, with lavish villas jutting out into the ocean offering fantastic views of Patong, and convenience for traveling to the best beaches in Phuket and the best nightlife.

There are excellent villa rental options in the lush hills behind Kamala, unique to Thailand luxury villas are built to target affluent young city professionals with gleaming aluminum surfaces and minimalist design, villa designers are gaining recognition worldwide for their imagination in design and style.
